Gene Hackman is great as Royal Tenenbaum, the irascible patriarch of the clan, but this is really Anderson’s show, boasting one of his smartest screenplays. One of the cool things about Amazon’s increased theatrical output is that they’re putting their films on Amazon Prime very quickly after playing at the multiplex or arthouse. Go back to where it all began with this classic horror-comedy, a movie that scared a generation into throwing away their toys. This is easily one of the best Bond movies, a flick that redefined the character with more intense stakes and realistic action sequences.
